LABOURER – Temporary
Richmond – Fleet Maintenance Unit
We are seeking highly motivated, pre-apprenticeship Labourers to fill positions at our Fleet Maintenance facility in Richmond.
This position will assist tradespersons with refit and maintenance requirements for our fleet of vessels and will perform the following: removing, cleaning, retrieving and installing various parts and pipes and stringing cables; moving and operating machinery including a forklift, grove, overhead crane etc; preparing work areas for tradespersons, assisting trades with preparing and cleaning surfaces, locating, measuring, cutting and laying out parts; additional duties including cleaning and organizing the yard and work stations; sweeping and picking up garbage, washing, cleaning and fuelling trucks; and additional duties as required. As duties will vary depending on business requirements, a flexible attitude is essential. This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
You have a positive attitude; and a willingness to do whatever is required to get the job done. You are extremely safety-conscious and are physically able to manage heavy lifting and repetitive movement. You have a thorough understanding of WCB regulations and safe working practices and working knowledge of relevant materials, tools and equipment. You hold a valid driver’s license. Relevant experience working in an industrial environment is preferred. Entry Level Trades Training or a Shipyard Labourer Occupational Certificate (IMTARC) would be an asset.
