SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Location: Brisbane, Australia preferred. Also open to all East Coast offices/remote working and working remotely from New Zealand.

Position Summary:

Bentley is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Project Delivery Team. You will develop, code review, test, and maintain new and existing features within SYNCHRO Perform product suite (formerly known and recently acquired https://e7.site). The role involves working closely within the development and delivery team and may also involve some direct client engagement to help ensure requirements are properly understood and solutions are fit for purpose.

Your Day-to-Day:

• Helping design, develop, test and maintain features within SYNCHRO Perform (web and mobile).
• Implementing solutions using the most appropriate methods, tools, and languages. Software is written mainly for deployment to Linux systems primarily in Ruby and SQL for the backend and HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the front end.
• Engaging with colleagues to ensure what is being built will meet our users’ needs. You are expected to ask questions and challenge decisions to ensure quality.
• Writing clear, maintainable, testable, efficient, and secure code.
• Taking part in and, where appropriate, leading project and code reviews.
• Adhering to and informing best practices within the team.
• Supporting and maintaining existing solutions.
• Assisting in the production of estimates and informing of progress.

• Knowledge of how to develop secure web-based applications.
• Programming languages: Ruby, SQL, Javascript, HTML, CSS
• Web frameworks/libraries (Rails, React)

Additional Desired Skills:

• Agile development experience and test-driven development

• Experience specifically developing and maintaining web software
• Web Services / RESTful services
• Relational database design and SQL (PostgreSQL)
• Source control using Git
