Come be a part of our team and our mission as a Microbiology Lab Scientist!Position Summary: This is a full-time non-exempt position. This position is part of a team working on a variety of laboratory procedures involving real-time PCR using established methods and techniques under general guidance. Performs standard microbiology techniques, as well as general lab duties, designs and conducts experiments, collects and analyzes data and keeps an accurate record of all work done in a laboratory notebook. Requires some problem solving and organizational skills. Normally receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on all new assignments. Reports to the Lab Supervisor or a Scientist. Responsibilities:

• Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BFDX’s Quality System.

• Performs lab duties and experiments.

• Maintains organism collection, culture supplies, Biosafety lab inventory and samples.

• Cultures organisms and purifies template in support of multiple assay development groups.

• Manages the Biosafety Level II laboratory by keeping it clean and organized.

• Prepares technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses relating to real-time PCR.

• Contributes to project process within his/her scientific discipline.

• May participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals.

• May be responsible for identifying patentable inventions.

• Ensures that laboratory notebook for assigned projects/experiment are maintained in accordance with BFDX Employment Handbook.

  Training and Education: May require a Bachelors/Master’s degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent and demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles.

  Experience:

  2 to 5 years’ experience in the field or in related area

  Physical Requirements:

  Be able to safely lift and maneuver 60 lbs.
