Birkbeck Digital Education is looking for a number of talented people to join our enthusiastic team. Do you have a successful track-record supporting staff in the development of Digital Education? x 3 posts available – 35 hours (1.0 FTE) open ended , 28 hours (0.8 FTE) open ended and 21 hours (0.6 FTE) fixed term – 3 years.
Birkbeck enjoys a unique position in the Higher Education space as an evening university with a strong widening access agenda. We celebrate our 200th anniversary next year and our new corporate strategy ‘Vision 2021-26’ sets out plans for ambitious change to “transform lives through inspiring teaching that is accessible and inclusive”. Part of that strategy involves ensuring that students can succeed through a model of flexible high-quality teaching, combining inspirational campus experiences with online learning and support in a dynamic blend.
We have already made rapid progress with our digital education strategy. All modules taught in 21/22 were designed using the new Birkbeck Blend and built to a consistent level of quality in Moodle. We are now starting to pilot new teaching models, new assessment tools and new approaches to digital education support.
You would be primarily but not exclusively academic school facing, working closely with teaching staff and the central Digital Education team to enhance the quality and opportunity in the digital space.
You might be developing learning materials, running a development workshop, managing a strategic project or even designing a Moodle plugin so we will need you to be adaptable, communicative, knowledgeable of the field as well as talented.
At Birkbeck we have a flexible working policy with online facilities and modern ‘hybrid’ offices in Bloomsbury, Central London at our disposal if required.

Remuneration:
Grade 07 of the College’s London Pay Scale which is £40,348 rising to £46,118 per annum.
The salary quoted will be pro-rata for this part time post and is on the College’s London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
