The opportunity

Insitu Pacific’s Software Engineer will undertake engineering design and development, with a focus on avionics, sensors, data communications, computers and user interfaces and embedded systems on Unmanned Aerial Systems.

The Software Engineer will apply critical systems thinking and problem solving in a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities will include:

• Perform requirements analysis and definition in response to both internal and external customer needs.
• Develop product specifications and scope documents for internal and/or external design and procurement.
• Perform trade studies, develop system interface definitions, and prepare verification and acceptance plans for product development and enhancement.
• Develop code in C#, C++ & C
• Develop software solutions on both Windows and Linux operating systems
• Plan and perform system integration, including laboratory and field test and evaluation.
• Perform and document first article inspections and production acceptance testing.
• Assist with technical project planning, estimating, execution, control and reporting.

To be successful in this role

• Engineering Degree in a mechatronics, avionics, electrical/electronics, software, or related discipline.

• 5+ years professional experience in the specification, design, analysis, development, test and in-service support of electronic and software products
• Professional experience in GUI development on Windows, in particular coding in C#
• Demonstrated experience of developing software for the integration of hardware sensors into a wider system.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure successful outcomes which meet project deliverables and adhere to critical deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while working to schedule commitments.
• Demonstrated understanding of, and personal alignment with Insitu Pacific’s values.
• Australia citizenship to meet Australian Defence security requirements.
