Bollywood Stars Looking for Cooks Required at Gisborne Central, Gisborne Full Time

We are an accredited employer. We are looking for 2 committed and talented cooks to join our busy team in Gisborne.

You will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours work per week. at $27.76  rostered over 6 days, including weekends and evenings.

In this role you will be required to present authentic North Indian dishes with tasty and quality produce. In particular you will perform the following tasks:

o Preparing authentic Indian cuisine menu items including curries and tandoori dishes
o Operating traditional tandoor in a safe and confident manner
o Ensuring high levels of quality in dishes through skilled cooking practices and examining dishes before they leave the kitchen
o Maintaining high levels of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times, including cleaning your own station and equipment
o Assisting the Management in planning and preparing menus and helping to review stock levels and order ingredients
o Storing food and organising dated items to minimise wastage
o Setting up station and keeping stocked for service
o Maintaining a good working relationship with the staff
o Delegating to and supervising
o Kitchen staff as and when required
o Demonstrating new techniques and advice on cooking procedures to junior staff as necessary
o Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
o Completing other kitchen duties as required from time to time

To be suitable for this role you must:

Have a thorough knowledge of Indian spices, cuisine and cooking techniques have a minimum of 1 year experience in a restaurant environment including cooking and using the equipment involved. Holding NZQA Level 2 or 3 relevant cookery qualification is beneficial but not mandatory. Qualification can be considered in-lieu of work experience. Proven ability to work under pressure, and attention to detail, and ability to work in a team, and excellent time management and organization. The candidate will be required to work split shift and on weekends as required. The pay rate is $27.76 per hour.
