Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Performs radiologic imaging procedures; Operates x-ray equipment; positions patient; performs and documents patient assessment as relates to the imaging encounter; exports images to PACS; accesses and utilizes computer HIS/RIS as needed; prepares radiology room, equipment, supplies. The Radiology Student (GXMO) will work within the scope as defined by the Ohio Department of Health which includes general x-ray procedures where a registered technologist is on-site within the radiology department. The Radiology Student (GXMO) will not independently perform fluoroscopic procedures, portable exams, or surgery cases.
Essential Job Functions
Able to utilize the hospital computer systems (HIS/RIS/PACS) to retrieve information, export images, review images, verify data, perform order entry to produce a requisition, and complete exam record in RIS following completion of exam. Receives order request checking for special instructions, consults with Radiologists as needed.
Prepares room, equipment, and imaging materials as needed for patients. Prepares patient for x-ray by having patient gown appropriately as needed. Assists patient at end of procedures, appropriately ending encounter by lifting, moving, and transporting patients via wheelchair or cart. Transports patient from patient room, Surgery Center, and other patient care areas. Returns patient to room or other patient care area. If an outpatient, he or she is shown out of imaging and/or to other testing locations. Explains procedures to the patient. Transfers patient to the imaging table if required. Positions patient for all needed views. Ability to adapt positioning and views per patient encounter when patient is unable to cooperate or comply with routine positions. Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences. Performs a patient assessment, as appropriate for the imaging procedure to assist Radiologist during interpretation.
Selects and operates equipment as directed. Follows prescribed techniques in administering x-rays. Adjusts equipment settings; determines proper exposure parameters, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment. Maintains stock supplies for assigned room or work area.

Required Minimum Education: Student in final year or Graduate of Radiologic Technology program
Licensure/Certification Required:
Licensure/Certification Required: General X-ray Machine Operator license with Ohio Department of Health and CPR (must become licensed within 6 months of accepting role)
