As the Staff software engineer you will lead several teams of employees from Software Engineers, Business Analysts, and others, working together to improve and maintain Bp’s digital applications for the local and global markets. This role is the engineering lead in Bp’s B2C digital world. This person will lead several applications and tools, including BPme, our highest profile B2C mobile app and consumer engagement platform.

Key Accountabilities –

• Lead team of up to 20 – Responsible for delivery management
• Contribute and collaborate in design, implementation, and maintenance of BPme
• If required, actively contribute to code
• Work with BPme engineering teams to build a consistently great user experience
• Adhere to and advocate for software engineering best practices (e.g. technical design, technical design review, unit testing, monitoring & alerting, source code management, code review, and documentation)
• Adhere to agile methodologies and operate and build DevOps maturity to ensure delivery of business and incremental change safely and effectively using SRE practices

About you:
As the successful candidate you will have –

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science or Software Engineering
• Extensive experience as a Software Engineer
• Experience managing a team of Developers
• Expertise in one or more of Java, C#, Javascript, Python etc.
• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience of data structures, algorithm designs, runtime complexity, API design, security, and privacy best practices
• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels across the organization – Your ability to break down technical considerations so that everyone can understand is paramount
