BPP Education Group Hiring for Publishing Assistant Job at Remote , UK Full Time

This will be a hybrid working arrangement in which you will be splitting your time between the workplace and working remotely.

Providing key support with publishing operations

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is seeking their first position within the publishing industry. As the Publishing Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting all publishing operations tasks and will be handling some manuscripts as required.

You will work closely with Project Editors, the Lead Designer and academic writers to ensure files are supplied on time and to specification, as well as being involved in minor project management from final manuscript through to print-ready files. You will provide varied administrative support within Publishing Services and will use your strong communication skills to assist with managing relationships with the typesetters.

What you’ll be doing

• Editing multiple projects to schedule and to the quality expected
• Liaising with internal and freelance authors, subject matter experts, proofreaders and examiners to keep products on schedule during the origination and publishing services phase
• Co-ordinating the typesetting process in an effective and timely manner
• Assisting the Lead Designer with tasks including amending covers and preparing them for print, and the creation/amendment of diagrams
• Providing administrative support within Publishing Services, including securing and filing PDFs as requested
• Production/Coordination of bespoke, custom and license material
• Assisting in the creation of barcodes and ad hoc jacket images as needed
• Supporting the Publishing Services department where required to ensure smooth running of the production process for published and course material

• Ideally, you will have experience with either InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop; however, relevant training will be provided
• Some basic design experience (personal or professional projects) is desirable
