Our Client

BrainPower’s client is a California based couple, with a two year-old daughter, looking to hire a seasoned, professional, Private Early Education Teacher & Executive Assistant. This position will be based in Orange County, CA with occasional travel to join the family abroad for business or vacation as needed. The family is fun, energetic and hard working and looking for someone who wants to pitch in and sees their role as helping with whatever needs to be done.

The family has traditional, Christian-based values and the job requires an insightful, hands-on individual willing to perform any and all tasks related to early educational development. Additionally, because the child is two (2) years of age, the work week will not only consist of educational activities but will also contain Executive Assistant style tasks to round out the day (with the child’s development and education always being the first priority).

During the first year, the work will likely be split 20% teaching/80% business/household related. Over the years, as the child grows, the work will move to 80% teaching/20% business/household related tasks. The family has a full-time nanny, chef, and a housekeeper so you will only provide back-up or supplementary support in these areas.

This is a great position for someone who is trained in early childhood education, energetic, intelligent, and can easily pivot–someone who knows how to make themselves invaluable, almost never feels like “this isn’t my job”, and would like a long-term position with a wonderful family. Because the family foresees private, in-home teaching as the preferred path for their child during her entire matriculation until University, this could be a very interesting, challenging, and unique long-term role.

The work

• Prepare a curriculum and lesson plans for the parents to review and approve
• Execute the curriculum, in an age appropriate way, that allows the child learn and develop her strengths
• Measure developmental and academic milestones and identify areas where the child may need support; participate in resourcing that support without being pejorative to the child
• Creatively “edu-tain” the child so she appreciates and desires learning (after all, she is 2).
• Calibrate the curriculum or lesson plan based on the measurable milestones
• Identify age-appropriate cultural activities for child such as museum visits and special performances
• Assist with planning and execution of child’s parties and playdates
• Create a weekly schedule for the child (and be understanding and flexible if things don’t go as planned)
• Coordinate travel for the entire family including research, reservations, logistics, and accommodating special requests
• Receive and organize all packages and returns (Target, UPS, etc.) and run light household errands
• Complete all research on family requests for products or services
• Solve computer/device problems
• Handle light Executive Administrative tasks such as research, making phone calls, and calendar management
• Flexibility in your schedule to work overtime and occasional weekends for event/travel
• Be interested in and able to travel domestically and internationally with the family for extended periods of time

Your Experience & Skills

• Previous experience working with young children required
• Undergraduate degree in early childhood education required or similar field, Masters preferred
