Bridge for Billions, as one of the largest entrepreneurship networks in the world, creates, designs, and manages innovation programs with foundations, corporations, and public entities that have benefited more than 2900 entrepreneurs in more than 99 countries. Its objective is to facilitate access to entrepreneurial support for all types of entrepreneurs with a common purpose: to boost innovation that solves the problems that truly matter, generate economic growth, and new decent job opportunities. Bridge for Billions, recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30, Ashoka, and Acumen, has worked with more than 100 organizations such as Coca-Cola, Accenture or BMW, and institutions such as the United Nations in the development of entrepreneurship programs that support diverse entrepreneurs in the creation of innovative solutions for today’s most pressing issues.

In 6 years, Bridge has grown to a team of 29 people from 13 nationalities, with headquarters in Madrid, where most of our team is based; an emerging LatAm HQ in Antigua, Guatemala, with a few team members; and a few people based in different places around the world. We will likely end the year 2022 as a team of 40 people.

JOB MISSION

For our next growth stage, we are focusing on strengthening entrepreneurship ecosystems worldwide, by creating programs to connect support organizations with early-stage entrepreneurs, mentors, sector experts, and investors, and facilitate long-lasting connections among them.

We are looking for our next Head of Programs that will be responsible for leading the Programs Department at Bridge for Billions and representing it inside the Leadership Team. ROLES AND CONTRIBUTIONS

1. Define company vision and strategy as part of the Leadership Team (20%)

• Keep the vision, mission and impact of the company top of mind in strategy and decisions and reinforce it in conversations with team members.
• Jointly define company strategy and OKRs with the rest of the Leadership Team.
• Represent the Programs Department and be the voice of our clients and users inside the Leadership Team.
• Report to the company regarding program status, department key metrics, learnings, risks and opportunities.
• Stand for Bridge for Billions values & culture and reinforce them on every occasion.
• Spot and bring up the most pressing tactical issues of the department to the Leadership Team during Weekly Tactical Meetings and Monthly Strategy Meetings.
• Wear the Leadership Team hat to help solve company-wide challenges.

2. Manage people, resources & strategy for the Programs department (20%)

• Set the vision for the department together with Programs Directors and in alignment with the Leadership Team and ensure understanding and buy-in across all Program Managers.
• Develop the annual budget for the department and ensure proper management of financial resources.
• Work with the Head of Sales and Marketing Director to oversee all upcoming programs for the next 6 months and their resource allocation.
• Work with Finance and CEO to manage and project cost-allocation and be able to make financial-driven decisions.
• Anticipate needs for hiring and ensure optimal strengths-to-seat allocation inside the department, hold accountable Directors for hiring in coordination with the Talent Acquisition team.
• Monitor key department metrics and act on them: budget deviations, consolidated clients and users feedback, bugs, satisfaction with support, hours needed vs available for the upcoming months, etc.
• Ensure that communication and collaboration across departments is smooth and effective via all Points of Contact within the Programs team.

3. Coach & Hold Accountable Programs Directors (20%)

• Lead directly all Programs Directors and ensure good team dynamics across the department, coach directors on overcoming obstacles, people-issues and handling adaptive challenges, using the principles of Scalable Leadership.
• Be a role model for People-Leadership in tune with company values for the whole department.
• Create and maintain good conditions for learning inside the department and cross-departments. Establish a safe environment for sharing ideas, solutions, and difficulties and the capacity to detect, analyze and respond quickly to deficiencies.
• Hold Directors accountable to hire, onboard, support and train members of their team as needed and act on underperformance.
• Together with Directors, cultivate our internal talent pipeline, ensuring that team members want to grow in the positions we create to respond to our business needs.

4. Ensure high-quality delivery of all programs (20%)

• Upgrade programs monitoring systems, set the bar for success and hold accountable Directors to monitor key program metrics and consolidate them to take action on client satisfaction, user satisfaction, scouting results, delivery on time, accounts receivable, impact metrics, etc.
• Ensure that programs are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards, and that setbacks are turned into learning opportunities (about the clients, our processes, etc).
• Be the ultimate contact with all donors and clients, supporting Directors in handling complex challenges when needed.
• Ensure knowledge documentation and standardization within the Programs department.
• Monitor the capacity and quality of Programs Marketing and coordinate with the Marketing Director to ensure alignment with marketing strategy.
• Developing strategies to improve program management processes and outcomes.

5. Work hand in hand with the Head of Sales on company sustainability (20%)

• Hold accountable Programs Directors for renewals of their donors and accounts in coordination with Salespeople.
• Advise Sales people in planning and closing increasingly complex and strategic programs, adapting to different clients or donor types, and ensuring our offer stays relevant to ecosystemic needs.
• Consolidate learnings from programs and together with Directors and Leadership Team suggest changes to keep improving our services, delivery model, and impact.
• Handle contractual/legal questions regarding programs contracts.
• Represent Bridge for Billions Programs at Public Relations events.

Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Skills we look for in this role in particular:

• Languages: native-like in both English and Spanish
• At least 6 years of experience working in the social innovation, entrepreneurship, CSR and/or development sector as a program/project/operations manager. Experience dealing with external clients is required.
• At least 2 years of experience leading and coaching a team. The Programs team is the biggest in the company (as of Dec 2022: 6 Program Directors and 12 Program Managers for a total of 18 people) and we are looking for someone ready to lead this whole team.
• Budgeting and resource-allocation experience.
• Great analytical skills, can use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions on changes needed to the work organization and to the delivery of our services or standard operating procedure.
• Outstanding written and oral communication and understanding of the importance of great support in business & entrepreneurship. Previous experience in budgeting, program design and planning, financial and impact reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style. Can break down problems and think critically.
• Resourcefulness and good common sense to approach problems efficiently.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills: you will have a lot to juggle, so it is essential to be able to stay organized.
• At ease with spotting patterns, analyzing data, presenting this data, and making quick decisions to improve outcomes.

• Well-organized and self-disciplined. You enjoy tackling complex challenges and do not struggle with uncertainty. You will need a high level of autonomy to define the scope of the role and ensure program success.

OFFER AND LOCATION

Transparent salaries and fair compensation structure, mid-range for the social sector:

• Compensation of 36,000€ – 42,000€ per year, depending on profile.
• $200 Referral Bonus. If you bring someone you know to the team you will get $100 bonus at hire + $100 additional after 6 month
• Location: Madrid (For international applicants we provide visa and relocation support (only flights).
• Start date: As soon as we find the right person.
