Bupa Dental Care Hiring for Orthodontist Area Lead – South Job at Manchester, England , UK Full Time

The role:

This is a permanent, employed role, 1 day per week supporting the South of UK Ortho practices.

We are looking for a Registered Specialist Orthodontist

• To ensure the efficient and effective delivery of dental services and effective application of clinical governance within a specified Area(s) of Bupa Dental Care in accordance with Bupa policies and standards.
• To partner Area Managers in all aspects of dental care delivery.
• Responsible for providing the first line of escalation for all clinicians within the Area.
• Responsibility for engaging clinicians in the Area to more effectively contribute to achieving clinical, customer and commercial targets

Key responsibilities include-

Effectiveness

• Responsibility for ensuring that clinical policies and standards are again followed when it is identified in a Practice that there is a failure to meet them.
• Being the first point of contact for clinician concerns in the area with responsibility for their resolution, alongside the Practice Manager and AM. To escalate where necessary to the Regional Clinical Director.

Safety

• First line responsibility for managing clinical concerns in the area
• Partnering the Regional Clinical Director (RCD) and Compliance Team to actively manage practice level clinical risks and thereby drive quality improvement activities.
• Ensure the routine use of Datix in the reporting and management of incidents, complaints and risk.
• Engage in Regional Governance meetings.

Regulation

• Support the Compliance Leads to meet regulatory (CQC, HIS, NHS Scotland, HIW & RQIA) requirements, engaging in MOT processes.
• Support Ops in the meetings with NHS Area Teams for Contract review
• Responsible for communicating to Practices the action plans that arise from Contract reviews and/or DAF reports.
• Support clinicians when subject to NHS or GDC investigation and any medicolegal challenges.

Professional development

• Accountable for the setting up and running of Area study clubs as part of a wider responsibility to support development of Area wide clinician engagement and education activities
• Responsibility to undertake clinical performance reviews when requested by the Operation.
• Identify clinicians that require additional support/mentoring and be responsible for the creation of a development action plan.

Customer Focus

• Provide clinical input to practice level complaints and escalate to RCD, where required.
• Support PMs and clinicians in clinical complaint investigation and resolution.

Business Development & Resource Management

• Provide input into the reasons for and provide potential solutions to recruitment challenges in the Area.
• When requested, to assist with the recruitment and interviewing of clinicians, conducting clinical interviews in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with Ops to enhance diary management.
• Collaborate with Ops to drive revenue optimisation.
• Support Ops to optimise procurement decisions.
• Undertake additional projects in line with BDC strategic objectives.

Communication

• Support RCD, Regional Operations Director and AM to develop and maintain robust communication strategies from the clinical teams upwards and from RCD and ROD to clinical staff.
• Encourage Clinicians in the Area to utilise all forms of technology to improve their communication to and from BDC.

What we’re looking for:

Experience

Mandatory Qualifications / Accreditations:

• GDC registered Specialist Orthodontist with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in UK dentistry.

Required

• Good understanding of orthodontic issues, BDC and the wider Corporate dentistry environment in which it operates.
• Presentation and communication skills
• Coaching and mentoring skills.
• Business acumen
• Post holder must be financially/data numerate and able to contribute both commercially and clinically.
• Excellent communication skills, including influencing and negotiating.
• Ability to respond rapidly, decisively, sensitively and appropriately to business issues raised in the internal and external environment;
• Is able to build effective relationships at all levels of the business, respecting different cultures and needs.
