About This Position

An Education Support Worker is a critical role in the College to enable students with additional needs to meet their aspirations and realise their goals.

As an Education Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting groups and/or individual learners with identified Learning Difficulties /Disabilities. The support you provide will enable students with LDD to participate fully in the life of the College and achieve their learning goals.

The ability to recognise and respond to the needs of individuals is essential and you will liaise with teaching and other support staff to ensure individual support needs are met and contribute to the effective development of support strategies to promote independence.

You will provide in class support to ensure learner participation, encourage interaction through support for communication and facilitate inclusion by supporting appropriate behaviour. You will ensure reasonable adjustments are made and provide in and out of class support for students with mobility and or sensory impairments. Out of class support may include personal care, encouraging learners to develop their social skills, work experience and educational trips and visits.

With a recognised qualification in support work or equivalent, you will have experience of working with young people with Additional Learning Support needs.
