We are looking for a Compliance Consultant.
Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located anywhere in Canada with the option for 100% remote work.
Reporting to the Director, Plan Sponsor Services Compliance & Governance, you will join a team of Compliance Consultants and Senior Compliance Consultants responsible for providing first line compliance support for legislative requirements related to Group Retirement Services (GRS)
Available position:
- Compliance Consultant – position will focus on Group Retirement Services Compliance – responsible for all aspects of legislation related to employer sponsored retirement and savings plans (RRSP, TFSA, Pension, etc.)
What you will do
With the assistance of the Senior Compliance Consultants you will be responsible for the following:
- Interpret new and updated legislation of the various provincial jurisdictions and regulatory authorities
- Review new product or business requests and determine impact to contractual material and applications; work with impacted areas to apply the changes to the affected material
- Act as Compliance representative on projects involving GRS
- Manage timelines to ensure regulatory changes and project work are completed within the defined schedules
- Research and respond to inquiries from the administration teams and distribution channels related to GRS products & services
- Liaise with other compliance departments within Canada Life
- Partner with all Plan Sponsor Services teams to support projects, changes and other initiatives
- Develop and maintain relationships with external parties including provincial and federal authorities as well as industry partners
What you will bring
- Post-secondary education preferred; however, applicants with an equivalent level of training or experience will be considered
- In-depth knowledge of the GRS business and products required
- Knowledge of legislation applicable to GRS required
- Familiarity with the concept of managing risk is required
- Ability to review and interpret complex material
- Mature self-starter who assumes ownership of problems and identifies creative solutions
- Strong organization skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities independently
- Dedicated team player, keen on sharing knowledge, skills and ideas with team members and business partners
- Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management; ability to foster working relationships with all business partners at all levels, both internal and external to the organization
- Excellent analytical, strong problem-solving skills and trouble-shooting ability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
