Cardinal Health Hiring for Director, Sustaining Engineering, Medical Device at Georgia Full Time

Reporting into the VP Technical Services, GPSC, Medical Segment, the Director, Sustaining Engineering, Medical Segment identifies and executes a complete portfolio of projects supporting designated product categories and will have responsibility and accountability for all sustaining and transformation activities associated with various medical device categories. The Director will lead a team to modify, implement, and support existing products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. Owns product maintenance and enhancement post market launch at internal and external manufacturing locations.

• Identifies and executes a complete portfolio of projects supporting designated product categories. Will have responsibility and accountability for all sustaining and transformation activities associated with the category.
• Responsible for executing and coordinating across a broad portfolio of projects, including transformational projects which may include line transfers and/or product moves in and/or out of designated manufacturing facilities
• Ability to work effectively with Manufacturing leadership and coordinate with local site Engineering and other functional resources
• Provides leadership to managers and experienced professional staff; may also manage front line supervisors
• Manages an organizational budget
• Develops and implements policies and procedures to achieve organizational goals
• Assists in the development of functional strategy and leads the development of sustaining strategy.
• Decisions have an extended impact on work processes, outcomes, and customers
• Interacts with internal and/or external leaders, including senior management
• Persuades others into agreement in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships
• Demonstrates initiative and accountability

Preferred Capabilities and Experience

• Familiarity with medical product design validation and verification procedures
• Manufacturing experience including line transfers, in source and outsource project leadership
• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies and design for manufacturability is a plus. Black Belt and/or Kaizen certification desired
• Ability to prioritize project activity, work effectively in a multi-functional team environment, and motivate others to reach objectives.
• Generate cost reduction solutions to ensure long-term success and stability of assigned products and programs.
• Support new product introductions and manufacturing scale ups.
• Build project charters, plans, and schedules for sustaining activities.
• Work collaboratively with Manufacturing and Process/Project Engineering to develop and improve manufacturing processes to support high volume production and cost-down activities.
• Collaborate with external suppliers for component and process optimization.
• Work collectively with Sourcing and Procurement to identify and execute outsourcing opportunities and lead transfer projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge or experience with product development processes.
• Experience working with FDA regulations, medical device design control, and manufacturing scale-up processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree inMechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related Science, or equivalent work experience; Advance degree preferred

• A minimum of 10+ years related work experience required

• A minimum of 5+ years supervisory experience required
• Strong project management skills with ability to plan tasks, assign and manage resources, remove barriers, manage change, resolve conflict, build consensus, and motivate team members across multiple projects concurrently
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience and influence outcomes. Can present information in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask in a flexible, fast-paced, and challenging environment
• Travel expectations: 25%+
• Previous experience developing and aligning departmental goals with overall business objectives required
• Previous experience in the medical device industry required
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
