Cardiology Associates of Altoona is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Transcriptionist to join our team. The Data Transcriptionist will be responsible for transcribing medical records, patient information, and other healthcare-related documents into digital formats accurately and efficiently. This role plays a key part in ensuring that all patient data is captured and documented properly to support our cardiology practice’s clinical and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe recorded medical dictations, patient histories, examination notes, and other healthcare-related documents into electronic formats using specialized transcription software.
• Review and edit transcribed documents for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and compliance with company standards and HIPAA regulations.
• Ensure all transcriptions are completed in a timely manner and meet quality control standards.
• Organize and maintain transcription files for easy retrieval, following established file management protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to clarify unclear dictations or information.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient records and sensitive information, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and all company policies.
• Assist in the preparation and formatting of reports, letters, and other documents based on transcribed data.
• Support the team with other administrative and clerical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in medical transcription or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in medical transcription, particularly within a healthcare or cardiology setting, is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in transcription software and familiarity with medical terminology, especially in cardiology, is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to transcribe accurately while maintaining a high level of efficiency.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements in healthcare settings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
• Ability to focus on detailed transcribing tasks for prolonged periods.
