We are currently in search of a Human Resources Assistant for a Social Services Organization. This is a full time, temporary to permanent, hybrid role based in Washington, DC (only targeting candidates in DC, MD, and VA).

SCHEDULE: 35+ hours/week
HOURLY PAY: $23.00 – $25.00/hour
SALARY: $48,000 – $50,000
Is This Your Dream Job? The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for overseeing the administration and development of Human Resources policies, and procedures including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, training, and payroll. This is a hybrid role with 1-2 remote days to start, targeting ideal vaccinated candidates to get started ASAP!
Our Ideal Candidate:
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
· 2+ plus years’ experience in the field of Human Resources
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
· SHRM or similar certifications/studies highly desired
· Proven ability to interpret policies and procedures
· Advanced organizational and problem-solving skills
How You’ll Spend Your Day:
· Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
· Conducts onboarding and orientation for staff.
· Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
· Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
·Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
· Advises management on the formulation and administration of plans, policies for Human Resource activities
·Work closely with leadership on annual performance reviews.
· Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
· Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance and to advance equity and inclusion.
· Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase retention of a diverse workforce.
· Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, equitable workplaces and employment law.
· Other projects as assigned.
