CareNational Hiring for Medical Records Specialist Job at San Ysidro, CA Full Time

**This is a CONTRACT position expected to last 3-4 months, or longer!**

Medical Records Specialist Job Summary:

• Process medical record requests electronically, preparing, printing, and responding to medical record requests from legal for subpoena, pharmaceutical issues andhealth plan audit.
• Maintain continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Organize and evaluate medical records for completeness and accuracy.
• Utilize strong knowledge of medical records regulations and release of health information. Comly with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient records information.
• Provide assistance with all special projects such as outside quality audits, risk adjustment data validation (RADV) and the input of data into excel spreadsheets for reporting of internal and external audits.
• Provide excellent customer service with great interpersonal skills to all internal and external customers.
• Perform data entry.
• Process routine and special reporting requests.
• Contacts internal associates and patients for follow-up.

Medical Records Specialist Background:

• Requires an education level of at least a high school diploma or GED; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
• Requires roughly 2 years experience managing medical records in an administrative / support capacity, such as coding, claims, or clinical documentation improvement (CDI).
• Requires Registered Health Information Technician or (R.H.I.T.)
• Strong computer literacy (MS Office) and typing skills are necessary. Must be able to learn electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Must have basic grasp of medical terminology and clinical reports or documentation.
• Strong communication skills; ability to interact within all levels of the organization as well as with external contacts.
• Must be able to write clearly, concisely, and professionally about medical cases.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) speakers is a plus.
