Job Description:
Join the Fleet and Equipment Management team of Cat Digital as a Senior Communications Specialist responsible for development and execution of highly effective internal and external communication strategies with organizational and product focus. Plan and coordinate communications, meetings and events for employees, leaders, dealers and customers both digital and in-person in nature. Provide management or consultation for assignments that are broad, complex and challenging.
JOB DUTIES:
The Communications Specialist provides communications services in a business unit or corporate environment in support of a vice president, department director(s), global business process owner(s) and/or strategic initiative(s)/project(s). The Communications Specialist has an understanding of customer needs and develops and implements communication strategies in direct response to those needs. He/she is knowledgeable about company processes, systems and methodologies.
Decisions made by this position are diverse with higher risk issues. Challenges include exceeding expectations in delivering results, considering alternative courses of actions and making timely decisions. The Communications Specialist provides mentoring and direction to less experienced communications representatives.
The position generally owns several communications vehicles and manages several non-repeating projects, both internally and externally, through completion. Internal communication outlets utilized could include newsletters, Web sites, videos/streaming media, employee meetings, news releases, posters, displays, educational materials, photographs, brochures, presentations, correspondence, special events, news conferences, cascades, etc. External communications roles may include handling media and press relations, financial releases, and third-party use of the Caterpillar name.
Typical internal customers include various contacts throughout the enterprise. The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and may delegate work to others. Work generally follows established procedures and patterns with review in progress and at completion. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, etc.
Basic Requirements:
The position typically requires a college or university degree in communications or a related field or the equivalent experience.
5+ years of job-related experience are typically required, preferably with business unit and corporate communications experience.
The ability to maintain confidentiality, strong writing skills and experience, and excellent interpersonal skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside of the department.
Top Candidates will also have:
Knowledge of company products, services, product applications, dealer network and their business model as well as a global business understanding.
Demonstrated experience developing strategic communication strategies
Experience in creating and delivering training curriculum
Advanced knowledge of Excel, MS PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and imagery
Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work environment with others inside and outside the department along with very strong written and spoken communication skills in English with a variety of audiences.
The work environment requires an individual to be well organized and self-driven to determine the appropriate approach for each request.
The individual should have project management experience
Basic familiarity with software development and experience producing content within cyclical timelines.
Self-starter and driven; track record of getting things done
Strong attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to prioritize, act decisively and with urgency
Additional Details:
This position has the option to be based out of either our Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL or Westminster, CO offices with a flexible hybrid work environment.

Summary Pay Range:
$104,112.00 – $156,168.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
