PROGRAM & POSITION SUMMARY
Catholic Charities CYO Camp is an exciting, educational and memorable place for youth to spend their summer. Campers develop self-confidence while making new friends and taking on new challenges as they progress from year to year. Catholic Charities CYO Camp offers unique opportunities including swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, archery, hiking and field games. Catholic Charities CYO Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association.
In collaboration with the Food Service Manager, the Camp Cook is responsible for the preparation and delivery of food service for Summer Camp, Outdoor Environmental Education and Retreat Groups.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the preparation of all menu components related to camp program needs. Ensures that meal preparation is in accordance with the Department of Public Health and Safety, USDA and ACA guidelines
Supervise the necessary part-time kitchen personnel ensuring the identified tasks are completed safely and to CYO Camp’s standards as outlined in the kitchen manual.
Assist in maintaining the kitchen facilities and equipment to be working and excellent condition.
Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen and dining hall.
Act as the liaison for CYO Camp and Retreat Center guests in regards to menu components, food preparation, and meal service.
Oversee the meal and dining hall presentation to a diverse clientele requiring buffet style or family style meals.
Follow the direction of the Food Service Manager to provide menu options that meet the dietary needs of all guests.
Consistently performs duties in a safe and conscientious manner within established timeframes.
Transport food for program needs as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:
High School graduate preferred
Three years culinary experience preferred
Experience working with small and large group meal preparations strongly preferred
Food Safety Manager Certification required or must acquire within 4 weeks of employment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrate positive customer relations
Must be able to supervise kitchen helpers/dishwashers
Demonstrates responsible actions, follows standards, policies and procedures of CYO Camp and Retreat Center
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to work with peer leaders, i.e. Program Directors
Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.
