RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates, inspects, and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment in assigned facilities to achieve most efficient results. Assures that equipment is being maintained in a safe manner. Minimizes down time through proactive performance testing and scheduled maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
Applies electrical code to troubleshoot and resolve basic electrical wiring / circuitry problems, install and repair electrical equipment and wiring, roughing in feeders, branch circuit cables and circuits, splice electric or communication cables/trunk lines, and trimming out (finishing) electrical devices.
Uses electrical test equipment, gauges and other measuring devices to test electrical equipment.
Installs Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems per manufacturer’s instructions. Performs device validation and system commissioning.
Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
Reviews historical maintenance records to develop proactive inspection, testing and preventive maintenance schedule.
Perform the electrical installation, test, and/or repair of racks and machines (ex. rack power up,
rack bonding, uninterruptible power supply systems).
Ability to strictly and safely follow the SOPs and escalate issues.
Provide technical support for several co-location sites within a region and metropolitan area,
ability to complete limited electrical or mechanical troubleshooting with assistance from
technical subject matter experts.
Swap and install basic server/machine parts and running basic fiber cabling.
Provide assistance to the staff with respect to all facilities related tasks. Ability to follow
the instructions mainly for facility works but also IT hardware related tasks. This includes manual movement and installation of machines and racks.
Coordinate with co-location providers and staff in order to install, apply fixes or upgrade.
Power metering system and Building management system related equipment.
Create, update, and/or maintain up-to-date electrical documentation and/or schematics in a
constantly evolving environment.
Plan the daily work and complete the assigned tasks within the SLO/SLA.
Operates company vehicle in a safe manner and follows prescribed routines to service locations in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.
QUALIFICATIONS

Have authorization to work in the country. Ability to travel within the metropolitan area to
support various sites.
Ability to identify and verify electrical hazards and reduce or eliminate those hazards to allow for
safe work.
Qualified Electrician able to perform Low Voltage electrical work (600 volt or as per the
country/region).
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus a minimum of seven years experience as a licensed electrician. Completion a formal apprenticeship program preferred. Prior experience with DDC and EMS preferred.
Associate’s degree, trade school certification or other verifiable training/certificate or equivalent
practical experience locally recognized and in compliance with all local, state, federal and
regional regulatory requirements are preferred.
1 to 4 years of experience as an Electrician with demonstrable skills in electrical theory,
standards, and capability are preferred.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Valid driver’s license required.
Master Electrician license as dictated by local electrical codes
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.
Good oral and written communication skills (ability to speak local official language and English is required).
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles and to understand operating budgets. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Decisions made with thorough knowledge of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
