About the role:
Perform accounting and financial management functions for a publicly held real estate development company. Duties include monthly draw requests to capital partners and lenders using a proprietary draw module, provide project managers with project cost reporting and forecasting analysis vs budget, managing and reconciling vendor invoicing, processing pay apps and assist with internal monthly reporting.
What you’ll do:
• Work closely with internal team members to provide project budget updates, tracking and reconciliation.
• Cost tracking – Tracking of all costs related to the project including but not limited to, design costs, construction costs, development fees, and client direct / internal costs.
• Cash flows – Continuous updating of project cash flow. Coordination with client contact to review and approve monthly before submitting to accounting.
• Invoicing / Invoice Review – Prepare and submit invoices for company and vendors.
• Review invoices from vendors in depth with internal team before submitting to client for review / payment.
• Reconciling any costs from vendor monthly.
• Tracking of all payments to vendors from the client.
• Prepare monthly Draw documents summarizing all costs for the month.
• Contracts – Assist internal team with financial backup for any contract negotiations.
• Once vendor is onboard, ensure that the both the vendor and the client are adhering to the financial stipulations in the contracts. This includes payment timing and cost tracking per contract.
• Client Software – Become an expert on client accounting software for submission of costs for the project, invoices, cash flows and budgets.
• Monthly Reporting – Assist internal team with monthly report with monthly financial updates and more as required.
• Vendor Onboarding – Help internal team onboard any new vendors to get them onboarded into the client system.
What you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s Degree, with business, engineering, or architecture background preferred. 3-5 years of direct experience in commercial real estate construction and/or development may substitute for a technical degree.
• Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to internal or external constituents.
• Requires basic knowledge of financial, real estate and or construction project terms and principles. Ability to calculate figures and percentages.
• Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations.
• Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
• Expert knowledge in Excel, Word, Project (or similar) and Keynote
