Req ID: 83150 Region: Americas Country: USA State/Province: New Hampshire City: Remote Employee US Summary of Description: The Global Customer Business Unit (GCBU) Power Control Systems and Firmware Design Engineer oversees embedded design for customers across a variety of smart energy and power systems markets. This lead will work closely with customers to develop product specifications and then to provide guidance to the global design team in power, electronics and controls design. The Power Control Systems and Firmware Design Engineer will work alongside the Global Sales & Business Development team, mechanical designers, application engineers, and program management to develop and deliver products in accordance with the customer requirements. This is a Remote work from home position, travel as necessary, open to any location in the US that is reasonably close to an airport. Role Responsibilities This position reports to the Global Customer Business Unit (GCBU) Director of Engineering to perform the following responsibilities: + Lead firmware development for Celestica’s Industrial and Smart Energy design organization. + Create and manage product level and system level firmware specifications at a project and/or program level. + Manage product and system level firmware implementation by working with Celestica product design team members and partners. + Initiate designs of innovative, high efficiency, power conversion topologies and circuits at power levels in hundreds of watts with switching frequency up to the MHz range. + Participate in development of power conversion management systems and development of system solutions for easy system install, commissioning and maintenance. + Active participation in industry conferences and standardization bodies to influence and facilitate development of Celestica’s innovative, market leading product offering. + Participate in other power related technology initiatives. Knowledge/Skills/Competencies + Deep knowledge Machine to Machine (M2M) communications standards + Strong knowledge of Human to Machine Interface (HMI) development fundamentals + Broad knowledge and understanding of Engineering design, test, quality, and production in a manufacturing environment. + Broad knowledge of microprocessor and microcontroller technologies and development environments. + Deep experience with C, C++, Go, Java, Python etc. + Knowledge of materials, supply chain, and components used in the manufacturing of electro-mechanical systems, printed circuit boards and subassemblies. + Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers. + Excellent presentation and computer skills. + Ability to evaluate product performance metrics as well as diagnose and resolve technical issues Other Areas of Consideration The following areas of experience are preferred but not required: + Power electronics design + On-Vehicle communications standards + Understanding of automotive electrification products, standards, and certification requirements Education and Experience + B.S. in Electrical Engineering (EE), plus 8+ years of experience, or MS in EE with 6+ years of experience + Experience in the design, development, and testing of electric machines + Working knowledge of vehicle electronics design, manufacturing, testing & certification standards + High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with domestic and international business partners + Strong understanding of system level design and integration + Ability to interface with clients with a positive, inquiring, and value-added approach + Creating and maintaining efficient and high-speed system functions for high-speed Ethernet communication networks. + Preparing specifications and documentation of designs. + Study custom requirements and evolving standards. + Implementation, optimization, simulation, and debugging of high-speed functions for ASIC and FPGA technologies. + Collaborate with system-level and design engineers during implementation and verification to meet time schedules. + Support and collaborate with other disciplines such as Firmware Engineers and Hardware Engineers. + Champion best practices and design craft in Verilog-based FPGA design development. Job Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree in a Technical Discipline (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science), or equivalent work-related experience, with 8+ years of hands-on practical and relevant work experience. Master’s degree preferred. + Experience and deep knowledge FPGA Development tools preferably + Experience with high-speed serial communications, high speed ethernet, and network interfaces and protocols. Preferred Skills: + Built in self-test development. + Functional test of developed code.
