Since 2011, Thinking Cup Learning has provided New York City schools and families with top-tier educational and enrichment experiences for ages three and up. We teach tricky subjects like chess and music through fun, engaging stories that allow even the youngest students to discover core concepts alongside silly, memorable characters. Each story-based lesson hinges on an interactive “aha” moment, a method that has revolutionized the way difficult subjects are taught and empowered everyone, regardless of experience, to pass along vital life skills to early childhood learners.

You’d be joining Thinking Cup Learning’s full-time creative team at a very exciting moment. We are currently growing rapidly outside of our home market in New York City and into new media formats. We’re also expanding our educational content beyond chess and music into subjects like backgammon, Go, role-playing games, puzzle cubing, financial literacy, nutrition and wellness, and more.

We’re looking for a creative rock star with a passion for children’s media and a strong background in character design, storyboarding, Vector graphics, and traditional illustration techniques.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end illustration for educational books, digital learning tools, and video content
• Design new characters and reimagine current characters from existing IP
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing IP
• Collaborate with the Creative Director, Editor-in-Chief, and other creative team members to ideate and develop new educational properties for global distribution

Requirements

• 4+ years professional illustration experience, especially children’s media
• Impeccable taste and the ability to match and expand upon our established style
• Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
• Deadline-driven mentality and outstanding time management skills
• Sense of humor and a broad awareness of children’s media
• Growth mindset and a willingness to learn on the job

$90,000 – $110,000 USD
