The Lead Technician operates several types of surgical instrumentsterilizers and decontamination equipment. In addition, the Lead Techniciantakes on the additional duties of a surgical specialty liaison.ResponsibilitiesPOPULATION SPECIFIC CARENo Direct Patient CareESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAn employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of thefollowing essential functions. These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Acts as surgical specialty liaison to the Operating Room and Procedure Center.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, acting as a resource toteam members for the services provided; being a positive role model; andassisting with the implementation of new procedures and/orequipment/instrumentation within the service.Performs all case cart functions including picking case carts for OperatingRoom (OR) and Procedure Center cases.Assists with training on cleaning and sterilization, using instrumentmanufacturer’s guidelines for new instruments and sets.Creates and updates instrument set lists and enters them into SPM system.Performs decontamination functions for all durable medical equipment and ORsurgical instruments.Performs sterile processing functions with a variety of sterilization methods.Performs surgical instrument functions with proper care and handling. Ensuresall instruments are in proper working condition before reassembling the sets.Participates in professional education and growth opportunities within SterileProcessing and instrument technology.
