Our team is responsible for ensuring that Council projects and physical works contracts (including water, storm-water, landscape, building, structures, sewer and roading work) are managed effectively. Our focus is to ensure the delivery of the Council’s Capital Programme. The team is expanding to meet the needs of the forward Capital Programme and internal client demands.
About The Role
Working within our Technical Services&Design Unit, our Contract Engineers / Supervisors deal directly with the contractor on a regular basis to keep the construction on time, to budget and scope. You will play an important role in dealing with any community concerns while construction is taking place and often be involved in tender evaluations. A snapshot of your responsibilities include:

You’ll be a team player not afraid to deal with issues and have experience building and maintaining relationships with important stakeholders and contractors. You’ll also have familiarity with industry best practice e.g. building and civil engineering construction standards (NZS 3910 and 3916). To be successful you will have:

Additional Information
Hours of work – 37.5 – 40 hours per week
Location – This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices – 53 Hereford Street
Salary –The salary band for this position goes from $101,882 to $113,202 per annum based on a 40 hour working week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
