Christchurch City Council Looking for Engineers Representative&Contracts Manager at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Full Time

Christchurch City Council’s procurement team is the largest in the South Island and one of the largest in New Zealand. Our purpose is to support fair and transparent procurement, to help deliver sustainable, innovative and value-for-money whole-of-life public services.

We are now looking for a Procurement Engineer’s Representative and Contract Manager to join our high-performing and collaborative team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a leading contributor to the efficient and effective management of Christchurch City Council’s procurement activities. The Engineer’s Representative and Contract Manager works with procurement team members, Council Business Units and contractors to manage complex contract management issues at a strategic level, primarily acting as the representative of the engineer as per the NZS suite of contracts.

The focus of the role is major maintenance contracts and there includes advising on optimising key business processes required to effectively manage our large and multifaceted maintenance contracts. There are also other opportunities to positively influence and advise on a range of other contracts and contract management functions.

You will have a high level of commercial acumen, solid experience in a contract management role, and be effective at fostering relationships as well as utilising your negotiation skills to bring about superior outcomes.

Your ability to drive improved performance, manage risk and encourage continuous improvement from the Council’s significant expenditure will be key to success. We are a collaborative team and strive toward the greater good for positive outcomes!

You will work closely and strategically with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure a significant portion of the Council’s annual project and works expenditure is delivered as planned in the Long Term Plan and to a high standard.

A Bit About You

• You will hold a Bachelor Of Engineering Degree with at least 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
• You will have a sound knowledge of the NZS39X Contract Suite and NZS39X dispute resolution process.
• A natural go-getter, you will be a great communicator with the ability to build strong relationships.
• Your inquisitive nature means you are not afraid to ask questions and look beyond obvious solutions.
• You enjoy selling solutions and creating excitement around change as well as asking others for their ideas and input.
• You are highly organised with good time management skills and a natural problem solver.

Hours of work – Fulltime Permanent Position

Salary – $93,128 – $119,033 per annum

Location – This position is primarily based at 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch.
