Christchurch City Council Looking for Senior Parks&Recreation Planner at Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Full Time

Would you like to be a key player in the future provision of our City’s parks and recreation facilities?

We Are Seeking a Motivated Individual With Lots Of Initiative To Plan For The Provision And Management Of Parks Throughout Christchurch And Banks Peninsula With a Particular Focus On

• Recreation opportunities including play spaces and walkways
• Outdoor sports facilities
• Facilitating community activities including leases on parks

Your experience and knowledge in parks and recreation planning will contribute to enhancing a wide variety of outdoor sports facilities, play spaces, walkways, and various recreational assets across the more than 1300 parks dotted throughout the city.

You Will

• Provide senior-level planning and advice for the provision of recreation and community use opportunities that are sustainable, meet community needs and outcomes, and enhance the key values of the City’s parks.
• Develop comprehensive plans for the City’s parks, including management, landscape, and development plans.
• Collaborate on planning and support delivery of capital development and renewal projects.
• Facilitate community use and park leases, fostering engagement with local stakeholders.
• Contribute to Council planning documents, including strategic plans, Activity Plans, and policies.
• Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to team members and colleagues, supporting professional growth.
• Investigate and initiate improvements to Council policies and procedures, enhancing community outcomes related to Parks Planning.

You’ll have variety in your day-to-day activities working alongside community stakeholders, leading project teams, and planning for the capital programme. As an enthusiastic team player, you’ll provide technical and professional advice to other Parks staff and Council units as well as external stakeholders.

Location – This position is primarily based at Civic

Salary – $80, 904 to $113,202 per annum
