Our Community Parks are unique areas where locals and visitors enjoy their stunning landscapes and open spaces. They hold special places in the heart of all the citizens of Christchurch and has seen an increase in annual visitors highlighting the importance for good management of the maintenance and presentation of the area.

As the Team Leader – you will lead a team to ensure that the parks, gardens and associated assets of our Community Parks are presented and maintained in a manner that enhances Christchurch City’s image as New Zealand’s “Garden City”.

You’ll be responsible for all aspects of parks maintenance relevant to your area, to ensure cost-effectiveness and agreed service levels are met. Pivotal to success will be your relationship building skills with members of the individual communities, as well as local elected members and interest groups. You’ll foster and enhance these relationships to ensure meaningful and effective service delivery.

We want you to showcase your leadership capability, and to motivate and develop your team to deliver consistently excellent service The ability to build and maintain relationships not only with your peers within the Parks unit but across diverse groups will come naturally to you.

You’ll ideally come from a background in Parks management and demonstrate experience in a leadership role where managing competing demands are the norm.

Additional Information

Hours of work – 2 x Fulltime Permanent Positions

Location – This position is primarily based at 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch.

Salary –The salary band for this position goes from $95,154 – $113,202 per annum. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
