CITY OF BILLINGS Hiring for PAYROLL / HR ANALYST at BILLINGS, Montana Full Time

The City of Billings Human Resources is seeking a Payroll / HR Analyst to perform a variety of technical duties in the preparation, analysis, and review of the City’s payroll, including data processing, analysis, and accounting.Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: prepare and maintain files and payroll records, process and computes payroll figures, including gross salary, taxes, retirement, benefits withholding, child support, and wage garnishment, calculate and verify salary information, process and maintain employee time entry, and prepares bi-weekly, quarterly, and annual city, state, and federal reports.Work Schedule: 40 hour work week, standard work hours and days to be determined.Salary: $25.83 – $28.50 per hour plus excellent benefits. Salary at hiring will be dependent up the applicant’s education and experience. (This salary range reflects steps 1 and 3 of a 7 step pay scale for this position.) Step increases are awarded annually until the highest step is achieved, additional longevity pay is earned based on years of service and COLA increases are provided as approved by City Council each July. Vacation accruals begin immediately, increase with longevity and are available to use after 180 days on the job.Minimum Skills/Qualifications:- Two (2) year degree in human resources, accounting, data analytics, or a related program.- Two (2) or more years’ experience in payroll, accounting, human resources, or the equivalent.OR- Five (5) years’ experience in payroll, accounting, human resources, or the equivalent.AND- Must have advanced knowledge/abilities with MS Excel, MS Access, have the ability to learn human resources and payroll platforms and applications.- Must possess strong writing and interpersonal skills.- Must successfully pass a Federal and State criminal history background check.Equal Opportunity Employer.
