City of Springfield Hiring for Athletic Fields/Bright Nights Asst Coord at Springfield, Massachusetts Full Time

Position Purpose/Summary Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of parks/schools athletic fields and Bright Nights Holiday exhibits. Work involves varied maintenance, construction and repair of athletic fields under the Department of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management during the months of March through October. The position also involves the set up and break down, maintenance, repair and refurbishing of the holiday exhibit known as Bright Nights in Forest Park from October through March. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of appropriate care of grounds and playing turf Ability to estimate time, materials and equipment requirements for specific projects Good interpersonal skills Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent experience required; advanced training in turf preparation preferred Experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of lighting displays
