As the Clerk B – Board of Revision, you will:
Attend panel sittings of the Board of Revision, and accurately record all decisions utilizing the department’s specialized computer systems.
Provide procedural advice to the Board of Revision Members.
Prepare for panel sittings by compiling all documentation provided by the applicant and Assessment Department into an agenda format.
Provide notice of sitting dates, times and locations, and prepare the meeting location for panel sittings.
Assist with maintenance of the Assessment Appeals Control System (AACS).
Prepare orders and minutes from the panel hearings, and distribute copies in accordance with legislative guidelines.
Prepare affidavits for Municipal Board appeals in accordance with guidelines set out by the Municipal Board.
Respond to telephone and written inquiries from the public and other civic departments regarding the assessment appeal process.
Perform other related duties consistent with the classification, as assigned.
Your education and qualifications include:
High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Demonstrated ability to type accurately at 40 w.p.m.
Demonstrated proficiency (Basic) in the use of word processing software such as Word.
Demonstrated ability to take notes rapidly and accurately utilizing word processing software and specialized departmental systems.
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public in varying circumstances and maintain professional behavior and confidentiality at all times.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions, exercising sound judgement, organization, and discretion.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, and work under tight deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
Ability to converse in and understand the French language would be an asset.
Conditions of employment:
The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
A Police Information Check satisfactory to the employer will be required from the applicant or successful candidate, at their expense.
