The City of Woonsocket, RI is conducting a search for an Assistant Children’s Librarian. Reporting to the Chief Children and Youth Services Librarian, the Assistant Children’s Librarian will aid children and families regarding services provided by Harris Public Library. The person in this position will also assist in planning and conducting programs for pre-school and school-age children, as well as monitor the activity of the children’s and teen computing areas of the Library. This person will process new library cards, as well as update new and discard old library material as needed. The Assistant Children’s Librarian must assist at the circulation desk one evening per week. A high school diploma, or GED equivalent is required. An Associate’s degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of training in library science with three (3) years of experience working with children and teens and their families is optimum.
