The Opportunity
Civil Services (HB) Ltd is looking for an Intermediate Civil Engineer with at least 5 years of New Zealand experience to join our Hawke’s Bay team. This hybrid role will give you exposure to both Civil Engineering Design (earthworks, stormwater, wastewater, water, pavements, and land development) and Geotechnical fieldwork, including site assessments and soil investigations. You’ll play a key role in delivering diverse local projects while gaining hands-on experience in both office and field settings.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist in the design and development of civil engineering projects across residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.
• Work alongside our Hawke’s Bay-based team to prepare technical drawings, reports, and specifications.
• Utilize 12D software with experience in alignments, snippets, networks, and macros.
• Conduct site visits and geotechnical investigations, including soil testing, analysis, and reporting.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop practical, cost-effective solutions tailored to local conditions.
• Ensure all work meets New Zealand regulations and local council standards.
• Assist with project proposals and client presentations.
• Assist and mentor junior engineers
• Contribute to project management, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Follow company procedures and best practices to ensure high-quality project outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

• NZDE (Civil), Bachelor of Engineering Technology or Bachelor of Engineering qualifications
• Minimum 5 years’ civil engineering experience in land development and/or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of 12D and AutoCAD for design, modelling, and drafting.
• Experience in site inspections, geotechnical investigations, construction monitoring, and reporting.
• Solid understanding of New Zealand engineering regulations and standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Regional experience in Hawke’s Bay or surrounding areas is a plus.
