Clarivate provides products, data and services to clients in the Higher Education space, including Academic Research organizations, Funding organizations, and Academic Publishing organizations. Our offerings leverage our various Web of Science data and technology platforms (WOS, Incites, Endnote, Publons, Kopernio) and our life sciences focused Cortellis data and technology platform.
We are looking for a Higher Education Strategist who can envision, develop and execute our strategy for the Higher Education and Academic marketplace through leveraging existing capabilities as well as creating new ones. The Strategist will lead and drive the overall strategy that will help transform our products, data, analytics, consulting services and target acquisitions into the leading solutions that meet our customers changing needs in these highly dynamic times.
The Higher Education Strategist will report into the SVP of Strategy. In addition to Higher Education strategy specifically, the team’s related responsibilities include all Science Group industry strategies, M&A, market and competitive intelligence, content and data acquisition, and thought leadership through the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI).
About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
At least 5 years of experience in higher education consulting with a focus on strategy/mgmt consulting
Ideal candidate will also have experience working at a leading university in a strategy related role
Specialization or spikes in one or more of the following domain areas: Academic Research, Research Funding, Academic Publishing
Superior and comprehensive understanding of the research funding environment
Proven ability to conceptualize new ideas and develop programs to capitalize on those ideas
Ability to work with Product team and influence roadmap/strategy to align with current and future customer needs
Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills with the ability to work in highly matrixed environment, e.g., for the execution of GTM strategies.
Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Experience working in an international environment which includes the US and Europe, and should be comfortable communicating and engaging with clients and colleagues from diverse countries and cultures
Experience with all Microsoft Office Suite products is critical, especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
BA/BS in a life science, academic science or business-related field is required; MS/MPH/MBA/PhD preferred
What will you be doing in this role?
Responsible for the overall strategy for the Higher Education (Academic) segment within the Science Group
Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify and develop new offerings and services that compliment, leverage, and utilize the Clarivate product suite including: Web of Science, Incites, Endnote, Publons, Kopernio, Cortellis, as well as the recently acquired Decision Resources Group (DRG)
Define, build, and execute Go to Market Strategy for product, data, consulting and analytics offerings
Engage with senior client executives and bring thought leadership to the client’s/project’s overall strategy
Maintain and enhance Higher Education expertise and professional development through networking, unstructured learnings, workshops, formal trainings and conferences
Stay abreast of industry trends and developments to apply to thought leadership initiatives, business development efforts and client interactions
Set specific goals that align with the overall direction and goals of the Market Strategy team and Clarivate
Collaborate and support Pharma, MedTech, Government and Publisher Market Strategy when needed
Support other Market Strategy group responsibilities such as: investor decks, M&A, new sales initiatives, market and competitive intelligence, content acquisition and the art of the p ssible.
Contribute to the social environment by joining firm-building activities including knowledge sharing, internal training sessions and recruiting top talent
