Clear Ballot is an innovative and growing manufacturer of hardware and software for voting systems in the United States. Our customers include states and counties across the country. We are seeking Software Engineers to join our team of developers to help us develop election audit tools and use these tools to carry out critical data processing for elections.

This position is a flexible hybrid combination of remote and in-person from our offices in either Boston, MA or Nashua, NH.

What you’ll do:

• Work with others as an individual contributor on a cross-functional team of software developers, customer support and product managers.
• Implement solutions in Python for our election auditing tool suite with support from team members.
• Liaise with product and Customer Support managers to understand requirements.
• Solve problems, fix bugs, and support new functionality as required.
• Learn to use, through training, the audit tools suite to deliver data to state election officials.
• Participate in planning meetings, contribute to the design and estimation of solutions.
• Clearly communicate technical and deliverable details to team members, customer support and product managers.
• Participate in code reviews and adhere to modern coding and code review practices.
• Complete work on time to meet immutable election season deadlines.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• At least a BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent years of bootcamp experience.
• 2 years of work experience or internship experience.
• 1 year of hands-on experience with a language such as Python and in writing shell or batch scripts.
• Comfortable with executing regular expressions in code.
• Familiarity with git version control systems such as Gitlab/GitHub.
• Experience using modern issue tracking system such as Jira.
• Experience working on collaborative, agile software development teams.
• An inclination towards problem solving with a knack for reverse engineering who embodies a sense of personal ownership and accountability, especially in the context of tight deadlines.
• A mindset focused on growth and a desire to learn, a tendency to embrace challenges and the ability to be persistent in the face of setbacks.
• Ability to embrace constructive feedback and to find lessons and inspiration in the success of others.
• No prior experience in the election industry is required.
