The Opportunity

Are you keen to develop your skills in deploying IT solutions? Join Cochlear as a Technology Specialist in our Sydney based headquarters. You will develop, support and improve Cochlear’s IT systems within the manufacturing network, focusing on our Java based Manufacturing Systems. This is a fantastic opportunity to liaise with various business stakeholders in defining requirements and working cross functionally with engineering, IT architecture and IT security teams to design and develop the appropriate solution. You will play an integral role in the support and continuous improvement of the Manufacturing IT system deployment.

You will be responsible for…

• Work with Business Analysts and Product Owners to interpret and translate business requirements into system designs.
• Develop solutions and liaise with the Technical Lead to ensure they are well designed, testable, and efficiently written within specified timeframes.
• Use strategies to enable smooth transition through the change. Find the optimum time to schedule changes for the business to minimize end user impact on training and testing requirements.
• Assess application related technology changes and help to ensure that any changes implemented are in line with both IT roadmaps and Cochlear global strategy.
• Understand the acceptance test requirements associated with a change, working together with designers, test engineers and the user, which will confirm that all the high-level business requirements have been met.
• Investigate the root cause of problems and liaise or coordinate where necessary with internal and external teams, the actions required to resolve the problem
• Develop and Maintain user documentation standards) and ensure that Quality systems are updated as appropriate

The successful candidate will demonstrate…

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an application support environment
• Demonstrated experience in improving systems and processes within a commercial environment
• Problem solving, troubleshooting and consulting in depth with the business at different levels and across functions
• Degree in information technology or similar
• Experience in the following programming languages:
  • Java, Python, AngularJS/ Javascript, HTML/ CSS
  • AWS, Lambdas, EC2, CLI, CloudFormation
  • Linux, Mac OS
  • Jira, GIT
• Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing techniques is a plus
