College of Southern Idaho Hiring for Welding Lab Assistant at Twin Falls, ID Full Time

The Welding Lab Assistant provides assistance to faculty and students in the Welding Program. Candidates must be able to interact with students in the classroom and lab environment in support of full time faculty to accomplish established outcomes for courses and program. This is a full-time position, hours to be determined, Monday – Friday throughout the semester. $18.20 an hour, 11-month commitment with benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities

Support instruction for the Welding Technology program as follows:

Assure a safe learning environment for students including proper use of PPE

Provide general assistance to the program faculty with respect to all program activities (purchasing, cleaning, student management, & lab preparation)

Communicate effectively with departmental personnel

Answer basic questions relating to program content

May act as a substitute instructor in certain cases or cover lab time when instructor is gone

Conduct demonstrations and do recruiting at career and other education-related events

Conduct tours of the lab for students and members of the community as needed

Be organized in scheduling and completing a list of tasks as assigned

Maintain lab equipment in a constant, safe working condition

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

Must possess:
Associate of Applied Science degree in a related field or equivalent work experience in the field, (4,000 hrs.) to be determined.

Written and oral communication skills

Industry experience in related occupation preferred

Strong organizational skills

Computer literacy and be technologically competent

Patience and interest in student and program success

Ability to work with other assistants and instructors on campus

Ability to safely operate and maintain a forklift and other lab equipment preferred

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Classroom and lab facilities in the welding program (including off-campus centers). Lifting may be required up to 50 lbs.
