The Division of Facilities exists to plan, design, construct, operate, maintain and manage the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses according to all applicable standards in a manner that promotes the CDHS mission of providing safe, sanitary and effective environment for clients, youth, residents, consumers and staff and enhances the quality of life in CDHS facilities and campuses and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Facilities served: The facilities managed by the Division of Facilities Management (DFM) include 1,400 acres of land and 349 buildings comprised of 3.8 million square feet. The North district facilities are Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan (CMHIFL), 1575 Sherman, Wheat Ridge Regional Center (WRRC), Sunada (SLC), Satellite Group Homes, and the Division of Youth Services (Adams, Gilliam, Lookout Mountain, Marvin Foote, Mount View, Platte Valley, Prairie Vista YSC, and Ridge View).

Description of Job
The Department of Human Services welcomes your interest in the Plumber position. This position works at and travels to the facilities to repair, install and maintain plumbing systems, building and associated equipment in CDHS facilities.
Responsibilities include:
Perform troubleshooting, installation, repair and maintenance on plumbing equipment and systems including pumps, temperature controls, and hot water heating systems, domestic water systems, sewer and waste disposal system.
Perform journeyman plumbing work that includes: unstopping commodes, sinks, floor drains, replacing washers, seats, traps, valves, supply lines, handles stool seats and related plumbing accessories and fixtures.
Repair and / or replace equipment, components, devices, or complete systems which are not operational, broken, damaged, outdated, or obsolete that allows systems to operate as intended or increasing efficiency.
Complete preventative maintenance checks, routine work orders and are responsible for new construction, remodels, or modification of plumbing systems including irrigation systems, and assist with project work as needed.
Maintain, test and repair Life Safety Systems including fire hydrants, standpipes and fire suppression systems.
Order and purchase materials, maintain stock in the warehouse and clean vehicle, warehouse and shop areas.

Assist with project work as needed.
Perform new installation and/or renovation of water, back-flow, sewer, fire line, life safety systems, various mechanical systems and fixtures.
Read and interpret blueprints.
Obtain and follow various material installation instructions and diagnose material failures related to maintenance work and problems, and research alternate materials.
Prepare records and perform accurate reporting with timely response on daily task sheets, leave slips, work order sheets, log books, inspection forms, purchase receipts and other administrative forms as necessary to allow for efficient work flow and documentation.
Order and purchase materials to complete daily assignments in a timely manner.
Maintain stock in the warehouse and on their assigned vehicle.
Maintain and clean vehicle, warehouse and shop areas
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Three years of full time journeyman-level plumbing experience. This experience must be clearly documented in your application.
Must possess a Journeyman-level plumber license issued by the State of Colorado. A copy of a current license must be submitted with the application.
Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or higher level course work from an accredited, non-correspondence, vocational or trades school appropriate to the work assignment
may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

The successful candidate should be customer-service oriented; have a pleasant attitude; be independent and self-directed; have the ability to problem solve; and be resourceful
Basic computer skills: email, Google applications
Conditions of Employment
Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and be able to travel.
Must will be willing to submit to and able to successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment physical examination.
Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide documentation for a medical or religious exemption at the time of hire.
A Tuberculosis Test (TB) will be required upon hire.
Essential Services Designation – Must be available for call back to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency without delay or interruption.
Must be willing to properly use, handle and properly respond to exposure to hazardous materials.
Must be available for shift work.
Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
As a condition of employment, this position is required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Continued employment is therefore contingent upon your receiving the first dose of a two-dose vaccine, or a single dose vaccine, within the first 30 calendar days of [first day of work] and becoming fully vaccinated based upon the timelines associated with the vaccination type. Until fully vaccinated, you will be required to follow all testing and PPE protocols. Be advised that “fully vaccinated” means two (2) weeks after a second dose in a two-dose series of the COVID-19 vaccine, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or two (2) weeks after the single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine, as defined by the State of Colorado’s Public Health Order and guidance issued by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment.
