Securities-Backed Underwriting OfficerThe Securities-Backed Underwriting Officer supports the Private Banking department by making credit decisions on loans collateralized by marketable securities. The position will also contribute to the monitoring and reporting on the collateral of the loan portfolio to ensure acceptable margins, mitigate the risk of loss, and maintain credit quality. This position operates in a hybrid work environment with some days in the office and the remaining days working from home.Position Responsibilities:UnderwritingUnderwrite and approve loan requests up to $1 million unilaterally.Conduct due diligence, follow standard underwriting guidelines, and periodically review financial statements and tax returns.Prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of credit transactions within standard turnaround timeframes.Achieve established credit metric standards for loan quality, including delinquency, impairment, and charge-offs.Manage department submission volumes.Investigate underwriting variances, prepare analysis, document findings, and provide recommendations for approval according to established procedures.Ensure compliance with application laws, regulations, policies and procedures.AdministrationAssist with the daily collateral monitoring and portfolio management activities including loans approaching margin and at margin.Mitigate the risk of loss by partnering with Relationship Managers to resolve collateral deficiencies.Review and approve requests for collateral releases while maintaining an acceptable collateral position.Prepare and analyze ad hoc portfolio reports.Perform timely follow-up with Relationship Managers on requested actions and document findings.Process SustainabilityParticipate as team member on strategic initiatives for this product segment.Test functionality and provide insights on automated calculations in platform.Apply foundational knowledge of financial markets and lending practices in the development of technology platforms, scoring solutions and associated processes.Other duties as assigned. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance or related field2 years of Corporate Middle Market, Business Banking, or Private Banking credit underwriting experience required1 year of working knowledge in financial markets1 year of margin lending experience preferredKnowledge of Supernova and nCino systems preferredCompletion of Comerica’s Credit College program or other formal credit training or 4 years total of commercial lending and/or credit underwriting experienceSeeking candidates with:Strong analytical and technical skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills Oaktec Building8:00am – 5:00pm Monday – Friday.
