Digital Operations and Technology (DOT) is a centre of excellence within the Retail Banking Digital space and plays an integral part in the purpose and success of CommBank. We are responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience across all digital touch points.

Within DOT, you’ll be part of our Open Banking team responsible for enabling our customers to unlock the value of their data. The Australian government has passed legislation that provides consumers and businesses more access to and control over their data. This is known as the consumer data right (CDR) and is referred to as open banking in the banking industry. Open banking means you can access and securely share your data with other banks and accredited organisations. Bringing data together from different sources can deliver new services and experiences.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be doing hands-on coding and shaping the system’s evolution by contributing to end-to-end design, implementation, and delivery. You’ll be responsible for developing APIs, microservices, backend components, and data access layers. You’ll also be invited to join our regular engineering guilds to provide technical guidance and mentoring to our junior members of the team.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

• Proven hands-on experience in developing backend applications using .Net Core

• Excellent understanding of micro services architecture and restful API design patterns

• Sound grasp of data integrity, system security, and unit testing

• Ability to develop scalable and secure enterprise applications capable of handling high traffic

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team and they are nice to have:

• Familiarity with containerisation and public cloud engineering (AWS or Azure)

• Event based application models with Kafka

• Understanding of monitoring tools

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline – TeamCity and Jenkins

• Experience with JAVA and mongoDB
