Digital Operations and Technology (DOT) is a centre of excellence within the Retail Banking Digital space and plays an integral part in the purpose and success of CommBank. We are responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience across all digital touch points.

What will set you up for success

Our Staff Software Engineers are hands-on technical leaders/Senior, accountable for significant portions of large platforms end to end, from the teams to the security, performance and reliability.

• Designing innovative solutions to solve complicated problems as part of a cross-functional squad

• While not having any direct reports, you will be guiding and mentoring the engineers across your Crew to develop elegant, well tested, and maintainable code

• Ensuring our technical approach is sound, fit for purpose, and well architected

• Supporting deployments across our Azure and AWS (Amazon Web Services) environments through our continuous delivery pipelines

• Promoting a culture of continuous learning, experimentation and innovation while contributing to the definition & governance of our standards and best practices

• Acting as the technical subject matter expert for all engineers, sharing knowledge and learning through your chapter, workshops, and guilds

• Contributing to growing the next generation of talent through our graduate and intern academy

• Established new ways of working, successfully advocated for new technology approaches, with the experience to understand the architectural integration of new software solutions

• Solid experience in designing large-scale web applications and distributed systems

• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers with varying levels of experience, including developing their general technical & decision-making capabilities

• Create a culture focussed on accelerating the adoption of new and emerging technologies.

• Show a high level of emotional intelligence when leading teams and influencing business leaders.

• Influence the future of the company’s technology estate every day

Tech skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We do not expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these, or a willing to learn these skillsets (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team!

• Microservices Architecture / Distributed Systems

• Experts in SDLC with broader experience around Architecture, System Implementation / Integration and Technology Transformations

• .Net Framework .Net Core .Net , MVC, Web API, SQL Server

• Scripting/programming languages (i.e. JavaScript, TypeScript, C++, C#, Go, Python)

• CI/CD tools (i.e. Jenkins, BitBucket, TeamCity)

• Cloud technologies (AWS and / or Azure)
