DESCRIPTION OF WORK
District Oil and Gas Operations within DEP is committed to facilitating the safe exploration, development, and recovery of Pennsylvania’s oil and gas reservoirs in a manner that will protect the Commonwealth’s natural resources and the environment.
Oil and Gas Inspectors are responsible for inspecting conventional and unconventional drill sites and storage facilities to ensure compliance with DEP issued permits and adherence to appropriate safety protocols. They also inspect orphaned and abandoned wells, and well plugging activities. An important aspect of the work is explaining DEP rules and regulations to operators as well as providing technical guidance.
Travel is required for this position; though rarely overnight. DEP vehicles are available for use. Oil and Gas Inspectors are required to wear appropriate DEP issued safety gear while performing inspection duties.

Additional Information and Work Hours:
Full-time employment.
Work Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; 30 minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements – Three years of technical experience in well design, drilling, completion, production, plugging, or underground storage operations in the oil or natural gas industry; OR an associate’s degree in Petroleum Technology or closely related field, and one year of technical experience in well design, drilling, completion production, plugging, or underground storage operations in the oil or natural gas industry.
Necessary Special Requirement – Possession of a valid driver’s license.
