HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

TEMPORARY FULL TIME (6-12 MONTHS)

The Human Resources Assistant will assist in the administration coordination and implementation of HR and provide administrative support.

Essential Functions

• Promote and demonstrate the Vision, Mission and Values of the organization within the workplace and community.
• Ability to problem solve, maintain a strict sense of confidentiality, promote positive employer/employee relations, promote a safe, healthy, respectful workplace, be self-directed, able to work independently with minimal supervision and under pressure of deadlines.
• Provide day-to-day administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources department, as well as work in conjunction with the management team
• Work on special projects, coordinate training, mailing, scanning, data entry, filing, typing of correspondence, memorandums, note taking, and reports.
• Ensure HRIS is efficiently updated and maintained.
• Utilize HRIS to prepare reports.
• Maintain accurate and up to date human resources files, records and documentation.
• Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to collect and file all required documents appropriately.
• Ability to perform duties in a confidential, professional manner using tact, discretion and good judgement.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, orally and written.
• Ability to identify and solve problems on own initiative.
• Assist in monitoring online application system and status of changes of applicants, as well as prepare and distribute job vacancy advertisements to appropriate channels.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field.
• Prefer minimum of two years of Human Resources related experience, including knowledge of current and relevant legislation i.e., Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as well as knowledge of Collective agreement provisions
• Must possess and demonstrate general computer knowledge in such programs including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational skills, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to problem solve, strong sense of confidentiality, attention to detail and work independently with minimal supervision.
