We are looking for a Data Engineer with experience in developing & maintaining scalable data pipelines, with an excellent history of responding & resolving BAU issues.

The Company

Our client is a leader in the banking industry, looking for an initiative-taking Data Engineer who will be instrumental in enabling data accessibility for analytics purposes, to support data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

About The Role

Reporting to the Delivery Lead you will be developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines and ensuring the smooth operation of data processing systems to support analytics and business intelligence activities within the banking sector.

What You Will Do

• Design, construct, and manage scalable data pipelines integrating with Snowflake and other cloud data warehouses.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes for data transformation and ingestion into Snowflake or similar platforms.
• Support the setup and maintenance of databases and data storage solutions that align with business requirements.
• Work closely with Senior Data Engineers to implement data strategies and architectures.
• Monitor and troubleshoot operational or data issues in data pipelines and provide timely resolutions.
• Ensure data quality and compliance with data governance and security standards.
• Participate in the development of data models and data warehousing solutions.
• Assist in evaluating and adopting new data technologies and tools to improve existing systems.
• Contribute to managing BAU issues, ensuring stable and efficient data operations.
• Be part of an on-call rotation to respond to and rectify critical data infrastructure issues outside of regular business hours.
• Implement and maintain robust and efficient data pipelines.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of data systems.
• Respond promptly to BAU issues and participate actively in the resolution process.
• Maintain an elevated level of data quality and integrity across all systems.

Skills necessary for the position:

• Proficiency in SQL and experience with scripting languages such as Python.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work on complex data systems.
• Knowledge of cloud-based data warehousing solutions and big data technologies.
• Effective communication skills, capable of collaborating with technical and non-technical team members.
• Ability to manage time effectively and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Willingness to continuously learn and update technical skills as needed.

Qualification and Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in data engineering, particularly with Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft SQL, or similar cloud data technologies.
• Familiarity with SQL, Python, or other programming languages commonly used in data engineering.
• Understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
