Gas- Hydrogen- Region Engineer
Position Summary:
The “Region Engineer” will provide support for data gathering, gas models, project records, engineering analysis, calculations, pipeline replacement/scenarios for analysis for natural gas flow analysis programs. This role will lead to a project engineer, utility project planner or field engineer to understand construction projects or planning.
Must be willing to travel to Chatsworth up to 2-3 days per week, eventually 1-2 days. They will also need to be able to interpret as-builds to extract information that will be used by another engineering department.
Provides support to the Distribution Engineering for our client by working on multiple medium pressure projects.
Work with New Business to size services and MSA’s for new and existing customers. He uses Synergi to conduct a worst-case analysis to determine the size of the pipe. The recommended pipe size must satisfy the gas standards and provide the desired loads requested.
He conducts system planning analysis for sizing main extensions for future housing developments. Works with the relevant stakeholders to discuss the long-term effects the project would have in the district.
Provides DIMP with the flowrates for welding procedures, the minimum bypass size to feed existing customers when abandoning a section of pipe. Also, he determines if main alterations would have any negative impact on the system by conducting a worse cast scenario analysis.
Validates medium models to make sure that the models provide realistic results by verifying large customer loads using internal company software and updating the regulator station pressures.
Maintains a Supply Line Summary that contains every High-Pressure Pipeline. He works with the HP Line Request Group to verify that each new/existing pipeline has a name that meets the gas standards.
Works on data requests by verifying if there have been any changes to the pressure districts, supply lines, valves, EPMs, and regulator stations. This is accomplished by conducting research and working with M&R to verify if the changes have been implemented in the field.
Conduct Model Maintenance for all Medium and High Models by adding or removing pipelines via completion sketches, adding customer loads for new customers, and adding new EPMs.
Required Education, Skills, Training and Experience
Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
General understanding of utility design and construction.
Good problem-solving, decision-making, communication, analytical and human relations skills required.
Must have advanced computer skills and familiarity with AutoCAD.
Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Must be adaptable and flexible.
Proficiency utilizing knowledge and skills with MS Office Suite (including MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PPT, MS-Project, MS-Outlook) and computer applications is mandatory for this position.
Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check is required
A high level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic are required.
Salary Range: $55K-$75K – per year
