Job Description:
What is the role?
We are looking for an experienced Java Developer who will be joining a cross functional team which provides data to the banking and financial sector. We face new challenges every day and you will be part of a highly skilled team solving problems collaboratively.
What will you be doing?
You will be:
- Developing and supporting the a collection of micro services in our cloud environment
- Developing and supporting services which cover synchronous, asynchronous and batch use cases
- Designing, coding and testing Java based applications
- Monitoring, analysing and troubleshooting services
Your work should show that you are skilled in or can quickly become skilled in these areas:
- Cloud technologies (we use AWS and GCP)
- At least one of Java, C#, C++
- Frameworks such as Sprint Boot and ORMs
- Working collaboratively in an agile environment (we use Atlassian tools)
- Relational databases (we primarily use PostgreSQL and also MSSQL)
- Industry standard source code management tools (we primarily use git)
Job Qualifications:
Are you the right fit?
You need to have:
- Four years’ experience in Software Development
- The ability to communicate and work with both team members and stakeholders on a technical and non-technical level
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to communicate how and why a solution is correct
- The ability to work independently and as a collaborative member of the team
- The ability to support and guide more junior members of the team
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (we use Splunk, App Dynamics and CloudWatch)
- A willingness to work with both familiar and new technologies to drive the right customer solution
What does success look like?
You will demonstrate success by:
- Designing and building new microservices (we use REST)
- Maintaining re-architecting and re-platforming our existing microservices
- Analysing the scalability and reliability of solutions
- Performing data analysis to support API integration and testing
- Preparing and maintaining documentation as required
- Monitoring, analysing and troubleshooting our microservices
- Supporting release processes
- Supporting more junior team members to achieve their goals
- Working with both internal and external team members to achive your goals
- Being unafraid to step outside of your comfort zone
- Actively identifing and minimizing ambuiguity in your work to deliver the desired outcome
- Continuous improvement of our processes and systems
- Focus on our customers (both internal and external)
- Being prepared to challenge the status quo with data and metrics
