Work Location
Scope of Position: As the plant HR Manager, you ensure the right talent is in place to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results and ensuring that the plant realizes required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence. The plant HR Manager cultivates and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s Values while providing optimal level of HR service and delivery in support of business goals and objectives. Partners closely with plant, division, and corporate leadership to ensure compliance to legal and regulatory guidelines while also ensuring the optimal balance in support of our employees, the business, and the company interests.
Day to Day Responsibilities
Lead labor/employee relations effort for unionized or union-free workforce.
Site deployment of HR strategies.
Coordinate and calibrate efforts with HR colleagues and leadership across the business unit to build processes in support of the vision of “one business” and “one company”.
Develop and deploy people movement and recruiting strategies in collaboration with HR and operations leadership across the business.
Manage the site-specific selection, recruitment, and orientation processes.
Develop site-specific policies, procedures, and guidelines aligned with applicable laws, regulations, and labor agreements.
Partner with Division HR and plant leadership to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables recruitment and retention of needed talent.
Effectively deploy HR shared service delivery model in support of HR transformational goals and required levels of client support.
Collaborate closely with Division HR to understand and implement HR programs that drive standardization across the division while ensuring plant business needs are met.
Function as the voice of the plant customer to HR to ensure that the type and level of services provided fully support achievement of plant business objectives.
Educate plant management in development and implementation of required programs and processes to drive a positive work environment through plant management and supervisors.
Resolve employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that recognizes employee needs and protects the need to operate in an effective and efficient manner.
Establish and maintain a presence on the plant floor to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.
Implement appropriate risk management policies and procedures to ensure plant compliance with safety requirements and local, state, and federal employment laws.
Education & Experience
BS Degree in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or Labor Relations or equivalent qualification/experience. Master’s degree and HR certification a plus.
5 – 8 years progressive experience in the HR function required
Manufacturing experience required, union/labor relations experience strongly preferred

Experience in diverse HR roles with strong functional knowledge
Background in HR Management, conflict resolution, training and development, investigation skills
Able to operate independently and drive all aspects of the HR role for the plant
Advanced data analysis and computer skills
HR service orientation with a strong ability and passion for balancing the needs of the company, business, and our employees.
Expert level communication skills
Able to develop and deliver HR initiatives

First line supervisor experience
Successful track record in the deployment of global processes or programs
Experience leading quality, training, safety, and security programs or projects
Work experience in designing and implementing effective organization structures and work processes that improve the plant’s ability to achieve desired results-production start up, expansion, or mature business optimization
