Public Affairs and Advocacy Executive

Permanent Full- Time Contract, 39 hours

Job Purpose

The role of the Public Affairs Executive is to provide support to the Head of Advocacy and Campaigns, The Public Affairs Team and the wider CPAF Team.

The main focus of the role will be in the areas of administrative support, research, compiling submissions, and lobbying. The post holder will also be responsible for assisting with the organisation of meetings and campaign/advocacy events; and assisting with the design and execution of campaigns on issues that are relevant to the Public Affairs and Advocacy and in line with Rehab Groups corporate objectives.

Minimum Education & Skills required

• An NFQ8 or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline – policy development, law, political campaigning, politics, media and/or communications.
• At least two year’s relevant experience of the public/political/not for profit environment in Ireland
• Experience in supporting the implementation of public advocacy campaigns focusing on social issues
• Experience with event management would be a distinct advantage
• Experience of the Irish not for Profit Sector
• Experience of the disability sector a distinct advantage

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct research (qualitative and quantitative) in order to assist the Head of Advocacy and Campaigns to write position papers in support of Rehab Group public affairs and Advocacy objectives
• Assist in compiling submissions to Government departments and agencies of relevance to the objectives of the Rehab Group
• Under the guidance of the Head of Advocacy and Campaigns, coordinate and execute lobbying and campaigning events.
• Organise and support events/meetings including annual the National Advocacy Conference, Public Representative briefings as well as national and local campaign events including venue bookings, liaising with venue managers and other suppliers, collation of speakers’ information and materials.
• Attend events undertaking support tasks such as registration and note-taking.
