The Dev Ops Engineer will work with the Senior Dev Ops to provide assistance to Product/Engineering teams, Analytics team using Dev Ops and Dev Sec Ops knowledge and approaches. They will troubleshoot data processing and partner with Engineering to increase customer satisfaction, simplify and scale data processing by improving automation and visibility. Maintain cost efficient resource consumption. Improve efficiency and ensure security of sensitive data assets.

Responsibilities:

• Aid with the following functional roles:
  • DevOps – Automation, simplification, and support of data platform; Support of infrastructure and production and internal (particularly development) systems
  • DevSecOps- Automation and support of secure systems/infrastructure and data management/sharing systems
• Work as part of Engineering to increase customer satisfaction, simplify and scale our data processing (improve automation and visibility)
• Development and support of our platform including maintaining cost efficient resource consumption (both processing and data base) and automation and orchestration (Apache Airflow)
• Development and support of our product, analytics and development systems maintaining cost efficient resource consumption
• Data Operations Tasks including loading and troubleshooting data processing and customer communications around data processing
• Use AWS Cloudformation and Puppet for automation for consistent infrastructure/environments
• Improvements (efficiency and security) to our internal build and deploy (CI/CD) systems (Bamboo)
• Develop tools/methods for sharing data securely between environments and auditing access – including engaging with the Data Science/Analytics team for secure and continuously-improving procedures
• Create a positive internal support experience, timely resolution or escalation, prompt communication and handling with a professional attitude
• Help ensure compliance to security policies and procedures
• Assist on security risk assessments (with the Security Officer and Sr Dev Ops) and implement controls
• Work effectively unsupervised and within a team environment
• Develop monitoring and sharing tools (e.g. APM and dashboard TVs)
• Assist with other Ops efforts (ITOps/SysOps) on an ad-hoc basis – typically as cover for absences or urgent work
• Completes all responsibilities as outlined in an annual Performance Plan.
• Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• Two years’ experience in developing Cloud Services (AWS or other)
• Strong Python development skills
• Desirable: Data Engineering or Data Analytics experience
• Desirable: Data pipeline experience w/ Apache Airflow (or similar)
